In May I will be attending an intensive simultaneous interpreting workshop at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, taught by Ewandro Magalhães. I am really looking forward to this unique opportunity!

Feliz Ano Novo!

I am excited and proud to announce that I’ve been invited to join the faculty at Boston University’s Community, Legal, and Medical Interpreting certificate program. This in-depth, multiple-course program provides excellent training for students working with Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, and Vietnamese. This fall I will be teaching Introduction to Communication and Translation.

Other than that, I am back to work after a much-deserved vacation in Brazil. My schedule is quite open for interpreting, since most of my teaching takes place in the evenings.

I recently recharged my thinking-cap batteries at two excellent conferences: IMIA in Boston, MA on October 5, 6 & 7 (you can view some presentations online), and ATA in San Francisco, CA on November 1, 2 & 3. I always return full of new ideas and knowledge from conferences, as well as some new friends and potential clients. These two were no exception, and provided ample material for future endeavors. Stay tuned!
At the ATA conference I was officially proclaimed Treasurer of the association’s Portuguese Language Division, which currently has over 880 members. Along with the other administration members, I hope to continue the great work that has been done so far and inject new energy and projects into the group.
